Advice on sequentially adding liquids to hot pot

Me: total cooking novice, but been using HelloFresh for a few months now and am starting to get into the "rhythm" of these recipes. One motif I noticed is, particularly for rice or grains, HF recipes will often have some sequence like the following:Heat oil or butter in a potAdd scallion whites and cook for ~ 1 minNow add water, rice, some stock, maybe some sour cream, etc etc (usually at least 2 or 3 things here added "simultaneously")On step #3 they've got you adding various liquids and creams to what is usually a pretty hot pot with little in it. These will tend to instantly sizzle, boil up, and sometimes burn on when they hit the pot. I feel like the order in which you add these things is important, but it's not specified. Especially when you've got to open some packet or other, long delays can be introduced while something's cooking.Do you add water first, then everything else? Do you pre-mix these ingredients and add the whole mix together? What do you do? via /r/hellofresh https://ift.tt/36FwsOJ
