[Question] Is my grandma's jam still good?

Hi r/food, not sure if this is the right place to post, but giving it a go anyway. My grandmother, bless her soul, gave me a can of chokecherry jam last time I was home (Memorial Day weekend). I was surprised and asked where she got the chokecherries, as she doesn't have a chokecherry tree and hasn't for many years. She said she's been saving the juice and seeds from the tree back when she had one and using that to make the jam. Now, here's my question. My grandmother hasn't lived in that house with the chokecherry tree for at least a decade, so I'm hesitant to eat the jam. There is no expiration date on it, so I have no idea when it was made. I firmly believe she's not trying to kill me, but since that woman died from eating gas station nachos! , I'm trying to be cautious. Is the jam safe to eat? via /r/food http://ift.tt/2rHcj9x
