New Equipment Types without Offsetting the Progression

This post is addressed to /u/helenangel and the developers :)People don't typically use gold equipment, but strangely enough, we could use more equipment types like gold.In the basic tier progression, you have wood, stone, iron, then diamond. For armor, most people just go from iron to diamond. Gold is very fast for mining, but it has low durability. There could be more balanced, optional types of equipment. We could use existing materials like Prismarine Shards, quartz, emeralds, heck even lapis lazuli! New materials could also be added, like silver, titanium, or alloys! These new tools could increase or affect item drops in some way or provide a constant potion effect while also being balanced by a low durability or another negative drawback.Examples:My favorite example of this is MC+'s Nether Quartz equipment. The armor provides constant Fire Resistance, but the wearer takes damage from water, including rain.Lapis lazuli tools could have a fortune enchantment/attribute by default but would have to be crafted with lapis lazuli blocks and/or have low durability.Slime armor could give a constant jump boost at the expense of a constant slowness effect.A witch's robe (and hat?) that, when worn, allows the player to drink potions faster. And /u/brimstoneisop's suggestion for bone gear! These examples would add a whole host of crafting recipes, unique items, incentives for exploration, customization, and more uses to other items! Some of these equipment items could be treasure and/or have recipes learned via villager apprenticeships.Armor Progression: Two changes I would like to see that would heavily affect the armor progression are better leather armor and armor weight. The weight classes can also be applied to the new armor classes. Conclusion: I'd leave a compelling conclusion that leaves the reader with something to think about, but I don't want to make you have to read more. via /r/minecraftabnormals http://ift.tt/2sPRE5J
