I’m setting up a new tank fairly soon and I know the substrate mix is 1:5 coconut fiber to sand, in my previous tank I had used “play sand” (no calcium) but I noted that the play sand didn’t hold moisture as well as I wanted so I changed the recipe a bit and added more coconut fiber (works great, successful molt after molt, tunnels don’t collapse, etc)Basically the question I want to ask, and the discussion I want to start is what sand is best in a substrate recipe- “all purpose” sand, this “play sand”, beach sand- or something else? via /r/hermitcrabs http://ift.tt/2F3WsWE
