Lydia slew the assassin with her armored hands, but not before the assassin plunged her dagger into herside. Her screams of agony awoke the nearby Imperial camp, and their healer cleaned Lydia's wound and was able to mend much of the damage, but the large wound to her muscles would require weeks if not months to recover before she could adventure. So, she headed west with a supply convoy to Whiterun by way of Ivar's Pass, and I began my trek east to Rift Town, or Riften as its denizens often call it.A mile or two down the road, I found markings of an Atmoran barrow, Angarvunde. Inside, I was asked by a Dunmer, Madresi Dran, who asked me to help her by destroying Draugr; after all the bodies lay still, I opened a gate and Madresi rushed through. In her haste, she triggered a trap that crushed her between two great stones. The treasure inside was some gems and another Dragonwall.STONE COMMEMORATES HORSE SAVIRRAMOST COURAGEOUS ANIMAL EVER TO CHARGE SNOWY BATTLEFIELD AND GIVE HIS LIFE FOR HIS MASTEREast from Angarvunde, I found Largashbur. The inhabitants have been besieged by giants, and they need some troll fat and a Dremora's heart to commune with Malacath. I've got the troll fat, but not the Dremora heart.I proceeded to Rift Town and remembered why it was known as a hive of scum and villainy; the guards tried to shake me down for several hundred Septims, but they quickly let me in when they saw the bounty heads hanging from my saddle.I asked the captain of the guard about the dragon, and heard the carnage it wreaked upon the Stormcloaks' few battlemages. Even their strongest wards couldn't protect them from the mighty Thu'um of the dragon! I had better hold off on assaulting Lost Tongue Overlook. However, there is an old stronghold of the Dragon Cult nearby, Forelhost. I rode out and found it with a Stormcloak Officer camped outside. Or, rather, an Altmer in Stormcloak armor, since the Stormcloaks are mostly humans, with a few Dunmeri mages to provide support.Captain Valmir asked me to find the mask of Rahgot, the Dragon Priest who ruled over the Rift and western Morrowind during the First Era. Since I suspect he's Thalmor, I'll keep the mask for myself.Inside Forelhost, I found countless Draugr, and the shades of Dragon Cultists who had died there. According to the journal of Skorm Snow-Strider, commander of the forces that sacked Forelhost, the cultists committed suicide with poison, and he suspects they used Daedric Nectar, a truly nightmarish poison which melts the body from the inside. To make matters worse, they poisoned the well, which is the only approach. Luckily, I found skeevers in the well, so the water's now safe.Hmm, Daedric Nectar. Legendary poison from Stros M'kai. Perhaps the poisoners left the recipe and maybe even ingredients?I found a stone note asking one of the Cultists to "go to the Frostbite Spider lair and retrieve their spittle. We don't need their venom, just their spittle." Hmm, Frostbite spittle contains essences of the venom they use to liquify the insides of their prey. Now I know one of the ingredients of Daedric Nectar! In the alchemy laboratory, I found instructions on how to make the nectar, and several samples of another of the ingredients.Death Blossom2 measures finely grated Jarrin root1 measure of Daedroth blood4 measures of spider salivaPour the root powder into the saliva over low heat, then stir the blood in slowly until the mixture has the consistency of honey.Jarrin root? The assassin's herb? And these cultists had a large supply?Even more surprising, I found Jarrin seeds, individually sealed in small enchanted glass vials. If I can find some land, I'll grow Jarrin and use it against dragons. The only problem is: How do I acquire Daedroth blood? Are they not fearsome foes?Near the alchemists' laboratory, I found the remains of a garden filled with all sorts of poisonous plants; from the predominance of deathbells, I presume the Cultists were fond of poisoning their blades and bolts.Deeper inside Forelhost, I found a puzzledoor sealing the main burial chamber. Inside, I found Rahgot's lich, and destroyed it with a mighty swing of Gungnir. When I removed his mask from his ashes, the back wall cracked open; it was actually a great door outside! Through the portal, I found another dragonwall:HERE FELL HROTHMAR WRATH-WOLF FROM SAVAGE PLAINSMAY HIS SOUL WANDER SOVNGARDE FOREVERBelow, Captain Valmar had changed into an Imperial Captain's armor and was asking a scout to fetch Rahgot's mask. I donned the mask and stepped out from behind a pillar, and chaos broke out. I emerged from the melee the sole survivor, and found a note directing Captain Valmar to bring the mask to the ruins in Labrynthian; I may take a look there soon.I rode down the mountain and headed east; just before the border gate, I was attacked by yet another Dark Brotherhood assassin. I really need to do something about those skeevers before they catch me off guard. I was turned away at the border, probably because of the troubles they've been having in Morrowind, and rode back to Rift Town.I sold my loot and decided to head north, out of that hive of scum and villainy; on my way north, I passed through Fort Greenwall in the aftermath of an Imperial raid. There were some families searching for relatives who had gone off to war, and there were scavengers trying to salvage the arms and armor. I was attacked by a few scavengers who wanted my ebonsteel armor, and defeated them with no trouble at all.I stopped for the night in the mining town of Shor's Stone, where I rid the mine of spiders in exchange for permission to pitch camp for the night.17th of Heartfire = On my way north from Shor's Stone, the guards at the East Marsh border mentioned a dragon that was roosting at the top of the Northwind Mine. I entered, and made my way up. When I fought the dragon, it had fire breath like the first one I faced, but it also periodically Spoke "Gaan Lah Haas." When the purple waves struck me, I began weakening rapidly. However, my strength began returning as soon as I consumed one of the cleansing potions I had purchased while in Rift Town. When I absorbed the dragon's essence, the word that came to my mind was Gaan, or "stamina". I Spoke that at a mountain goat and my aching muscles were quickly soothed. Additionally, I found another dragonwall.ON THIS SACRED GROUND DID FREDO SACRIFICE HER LIFE SO THAT HER MANY CHILDREN COULD ESCAPE AND SOME DAY VANQUISH HER ENEMYI headed north, then found a path leading up into the Velothi Mountains, perhaps to the legendary Skuldafn Temple, where the Ebonheart Pact first met during the Second Age?Although I didn't find Skuldafn, I found an Atmoran tomb, Ansilvund, where the warriors Fjori and Holgeir are buried, and some necromancers. Tsun forbid they force those old heroes to do their dark bidding! I'm going in to stop them!I brought down the necromancer, a Redguard woman widowed by the Great War who was trying to use Fjori and Holgeir as her thralls to wreak vengeance upon Tamriel. In gratitude for my freeing their souls, they gave me a mysterious shortsword, shaped in the Atmoran style but not made of steel nor of any mortal material. Rather, this seems like the abstracted idea of a shortsword.Remembering how I brough down the dragon at Northwind, I rode back down to Lost Tongue Overlook and brought down the dragon there; its essence boiled down into the word Krii, or "Kill" in our tongue. I found yet another dragonwall, and this one read:NOBLE NORD REMEMBER THESE WORDS OF THE HOAR FATHERFEAR NOT THE SPECTRE OF DEATH FOR HE IS HERALD OF GLORY AND YOUR GUIDE TO GREAT SOVNGARDEWhen I returned to Rift Town to report my kill, I was paid handsomely. I headed north again, and made my way to Kynesgrove. According to the innkeeper, a dragon roosting on a great hill in the middle of the East Marsh had been wreaking havok on the hold and Jarl Stormcloak had placed a bounty on it.I headed back south, stopping by Witchmist Grove to deal with the hagraven I had drunkenly pledged myself to. As I approached the rise, the dragon attacked. At some point during our fight, the dragon drained a nearby giant's mammoth, and he lent his club in bringing down the dragon. Sadly, he took a gout of flame to the face that burnt his head off. After I slew the dragon, I inspected its lair and found another dragonwall:HERE LIES BEAUTIFUL KHAJIIT ANURASSA WHOSE WARMTH CANNOT BE EXTINGUISHED EVEN BY COLD DEATH.I butchered the dead mammoth and will sleep in the giant's bed tonight. It's a large bowl filled with furs, perfectly placed next to a raging bonfire. via /r/skyrimrequiem https://ift.tt/2v4hiFa
