The Kingdom of Valla: a recipe for War. (Massive Revelations Spoilers)

The creation of the Kingdom of Valla after the defeat of the Mad Dragon Anankos, is traditionally considered a gift both form Nohrian King Xander and Hoshidian King Ryoma for their adoptive Sister Corrin and the displaced survivors of the Ancient Kingdom of Valla, a new beginning for an era of peace in the continent of Fateslandia. I completely disagree with this idealistic interpretation of history, At least in My opinion, Valla was created as a buffer state to avoid or at least postpone further conflicts between the Light and Dark kingdoms.Perhaps it escaped the foresight of both kings that This act would alter the geopolitics of the continent and it will become the Causus belli of another conflict whether in this or the next century.Nohorian Problems, Hoshidian resentment.King Garon’s reign is a dark period in the history of Nohr, during those times there was a wide spread famine all over the nation, it’s a common explanation of the Nohrian expansionist policies during this era, and it lead to the brief Nohrian-Hoshidian war.To put it bluntly, King Xander made a disservice to his subjects when he agreed to install his sister as the Queen of Valla, and most importantly to Nohr, He gave away land, that was or could be used to feed his subjects or in general to achieve the goal that became the motto of his reign for the glory of Nohr. While His reforms changed the life of the inhabitants of his kingdom for the better, many people have argued that the lost lands could have been used for the benefit of the nation. On the other Hand, we must consider the situation of the beautiful and plentiful Hoshido, the feudal state of the Light kingdom does not need those lands for neither its survival or prosperity, the cession was criticized because it was an affront to the pride of both the nobility and the peasants. The relationship between both cultures has always been tense, however there were two peaks in tension, one of those that resulted in the previously mentioned war. The first was the assassination of King Summeragi at the Nohrian port of Cheve along with the kidnapping of Princess Corrin, the second one was the attack at the Hoshidian capital along with the death of Regent Queen Mikoto, a false flag operation orchestrated by Anankos, but as expected by the Mad God, it was blamed on the neighboring country. These grievances were not resolved by the Peace Accords of Valla and many Hoshidians still condemn that even though Their nation was a victim of War of aggression by Puppet King Garon, they did lose territory and there were no known reparations for the conflict. The mutual distrust among them has transcended in Valla only the kindness of Queen Corrin and her husband Prince consort Silas somehow have maintained the peace between the antagonistic Hoshidians and Nohrians that inhabit the New Kingdom and now are called Vallites. As a side note, while There were some surviving people from the Anankos controlled land, their numbers are few and They are massively outnumbered by the new subjects. Most of those people died and became mindless slaves like the late Queen of Valla and Queen consort of Nohr, Arete.A succession crisis in the horizon.Queen Arete became a widow when Anankos murdered his last friend, the King of Valla. In this moment their Issue, princess Azura was entitled to become the next ruling monarch of said nation, unfortunately the rise of the Silent Dragon forced to become exiled, her story is well known and its written in another sources. After the defeat of the last First Dragon, Azura chose to abdicate the throne in favor of her cousin, the daughter of her aunt Mikoto, Princess Corrin, who became the rulling Queen.Azura returned to Nohr and surprisingly became the wife of King Xander, from this matrimony two Sons were born, the Crown Prince Siegbert and Prince Shigure; Queen Corrin and Silas have also two children, The Royal Princess Sophie and Prince Kana. The succession line if we ignore the possible claim to the throne from the Arete’s line, follows as Sophie as the heir with Kana at the second place. Some people might argue that Siegbert is the true heir of the crown of both Kingdom, since He is the son of the legitimate princess of the ancient kingdom, with Shigure as his successor, at least until the Nohrian crown prince marries and has his own family and heirs. As if the situation was not complicated enough, Court gossip indicates that both Sophie and Siegbert have been quite amicable around each other and the betrothal of Prince Shigure and the daughter of Hoshidian Princess Hinoka, Caeldori.A possible marriage between Siegbert and Sophie will unify both claims, and it has been well received in Nohr, since their descendants will inherit both Kingdoms, The Hoshidian court on the other side definitely has its suspicions and does not like at all the idea of a possible Nohr-Valla Union. Shigure’s union with a minor princess form Hoshido has little impact in the geopolitics of Fateslandia, although it creates a cadet branch form the Arete’s dynasty that could also claim the Vallite Crown. Also, Sophies little brother, Prince Kana, has a claim in case his sister's line dies. Many people probably consider that I am crazy for suggesting a war among Shiro, Siegbert and Shigure and Sophie, it is a well-established fact that they have a close relationship as friends and former comrades in arms, I agree with the objections, I do not predict a war during our lifetimes, at least with these Casus belli, Yet I consider that there are more than enough political tensions among the three major nations in the continent to have a War for Vallite Throne in the next generation. The Nohrians will support the Son or daughter of Sophie, The Hoshidians are not likely to tolerate the shift in the Balance of Power and probably will support Prince Kana’s family claim or Shigure´s issues claim.Alternate scenariosOnly as theoretical analysis I decided to consider some alternate cases that do not eliminate the grievances in Nohr or Hoshido but They alter the dynamics in the Vallite succession. It could be exactly the same if Sophie would Marry Hoshidian Crown Prince Shiro, only the roles would be inverted, Nohrians would likely support an alternative claim to avoid a larger and stronger HoshidoAs long as the main lines of succession to the throne of the three nations are free from the possibility of a direct takeover from another Kingdom, Peace is possible, for example if Queen Azura had married another man instead of King Xander, while her descendants would have a claim to the Vallite throne, it’s highly improbable that they could obtain enough support to actually try to take the power from Corrin’s dynasty. Ironically if Azura had married Ryoma, our current situation would have been the same but mirrored. If Queen Corrin had married either King Ryoma or King Xander, the othee kingdom would be in the uncomfrotable situation of the New Vallite nation absorbed by Hoshido or Norh depending the case, if not in the current rulling generation, Their Issues would rule a personal union of these countries. If Corrin was a Man and had married Azura, both claims would have been united and there would not be a succession crisis, assuming that in that timeline both Shiro and Siegbert are men and neither marries a crown princess of Valla.OOC: First of all, I want to apologize for my English skills, I’m not a native speaker and also not used to write in an academic context, therefore I fear that the following essay (shitpost) will not be completely up to the standards of r/akshistorians. It also features the pairings of my most recent Revelations Playthrough, so bear with me for the sake of Immersion. via /r/fireemblem https://ift.tt/2GUL7JJ
