The History of the Chocolate Chip Cookie

Where: United States of America- Toll House Inn, Whitman MassachusettsWhen: Circa 1938Who: Ruth Graves WakefieldWhat: Chocolate Chip Cookie AKA: The Toll House Chocolate Crunch CookieWhy: It was no accident. She came up with the recipe on purpose; not because she was missing an ingredient. SourceCatching On: One of the biggest reasons this cookie is still here today is because of its association with US soldiers in the Second World War. When the US joined the Allied Forces in 1942 many soldiers from Massachusetts received care packages from home with the CCC inside. ( Everyone likes getting mail, but getting mail in wartime was extra special) This created an incredible emotional bond with that generation which has been passed to us.The Original Recipe ( According to Ruth's Daughter Peg) : 2017 Article*** I've added the weights of the ingredients***1 1/2 cups of shortening (285g)1 1/8 cups of sugar (225g)1 1/8 cups of brown sugar (225g)3 eggs (171g)1 1/2 teaspoon of salt3 1/8 cups of flour (Peg prefers King Arthur all purpose) (400g)1 1/2 teaspoon of hot water1 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda1 1/2 teaspoon of vanillaChocolate chips (and walnuts) 7 oz (198g)Bake at 350 degrees for 12-13 minutesHas anyone tried this recipe before?
