I've never really gotten far in Normal, always derping around in alts. I've decided to make a character I'm going to push through, what do I need to be aware of? For things like reputation and difficulties?

I know this game has choices, that I'm guessing are locked to the difficulty you play in, as quest/story stuff seems to not be reset-able. Is reputation the same way? Are some reputations an either/or thing permanently per character, or do I get choices per character? How does reputation work between difficulties, or would I need to re-grind things?What about the blacksmith? Am I locked to one? How do recipes work when I learn different ones? If I get one blacksmith in Normal and another in the next difficulty am I locked out of something?I guess my big thing is: Can I do everything on one character, and if so how do I do so.
