There has never been a better time for a Red Faction return, and here is why.

With the success of Fortnite and Apex having plateaued, room for the next big take on the genre is available. With the success of Apex bringing character specific abilities to the genre it showed that the right spice added to the proven recipe could be a huge hit. The spice that could provide that twist was actually introduced quite a while ago but the recipe wasn't there to add it to. The spice is realistic, strategic, physics-based destruction on top of the BR game mode. Instead of blindly firing at wood walls that disappear, you could use your last two rockets to hit the supports of a building and watch it fall with the team inside. This doesn't disable the ability to storm in with guns blazing if you wish, but adds choices on how to approach each battle. The game that could do it, Red Faction. If one looks back on the multiplayer of Guerilla, they may be surprised to see the player holding a giant axe/hammer that can smash through buildings and how reminiscent of Fortnite it seems at first in that regard. Destruction is much more focused on in Red Faction than other BR games, but that element could easily mix with the building-BR gameplay that is huge right now. With name recognition, marketing the added choices and depth in the battles, it shouldn't be too hard of a sell. It is time once again, to return to Mars. via /r/redfaction https://ift.tt/2ZOupUY
