USA made Lemon Lime and Bitters (round 2)

Prior post: https://ift.tt/2UqeJYZ two in my attempt to get as close to an authentic Lemon Lime and Bitters with what I have available. More ingredients, better measuring.Sprite Lemon-Lime soda: Also available in diet. 7up is another brand name. There are also plenty of "store brands", all tasting about the same. We have no mass-market lemon-only soda. No Solo nor Lift. Some people though this was too sweet so I also picked upSeltzer Water: Water and carbon dioxide. No bicarb, no quinine, no fruit flavors.Angostura Aromatic Bitters: I got no feedback on this, and I'm assuming it's the leading brand of bitters worldwide, so I'm probably spot on here.Rose's Sweetened Lime Juice: for the Lime Cordial. If this isn't a common brand over there, I'm stuck using it anyway. Anything else I've seen would be a concentrate for kids' drinks.Actual Lime Juice: from rather small limes, I'm getting about 10 mL per half of fresh squeezed lime.Recipe 115 mL lime cordial.2.5 mL bitters200 mL Spritepour over ice and stir to mixPretty good tasting. Compared to normal bar drinks I'm used to, this seems like a lot of bitters, but it works. Some people guessed the Sprite was too sweet but it seemed OK to me.Recipe 215 mL lime cordial.2.5 mL bitters100 mL Sprite100 mL seltzer waterpour over ice and stir to mixOK, but inferior to the prior recipe. Obviously less sweet.Recipe 310 mL lime juice (fresh)2.5 mL bitters200 mL Spritepour over ice and stir to mixNot authentic, but my favorite so far. The fresh lime juice adds some extra tang over the Rose's cordial, and takes a tiny bit of the sweetness out of the drink.I'm assuming #1 or #2 are closer to the average in your part of the world, but I have enough on hand to mix up the ratios a bit, if you wish to give your feedback. Thanks. While I'm measuring with a metric cup, 2.5 mL of bitters is about 1/2 a standard US teaspoon, if that helps any. via /r/AskAnAustralian https://ift.tt/2SstIz8
