Karka Shell Farm Guide 2020

In here, I'm going to explain, what Karka Shell Farm is, how to properly accomplish it and how much profit it can give, from my personal experience. ( Prepare for a long lecture ).So first off, is it a good way to earn gold ? Comapred to RIBA, or Dragonfall, no, but, it's really simple, straight forward farm that doesn't require too much effort from you, and will grant you a small income of that sweet gold. Want to earn and chill, go there. But you still don't know, what it is. Karka Shell Farm, as name itself says, is farming Karka Shells, but, that's not all. You will also have a small chance of getting Vial of Powerfull Blood, a bit bigger chance for Vial of Potent Blood, and a mega rare chance to drop equipment with Settler's stats, or Settler's Intricate Gossamer Insignia or recipe for Settler's Orichalcum Imbued Inscription. Junk will drop too, of course... On your path, there are 2 spots where a Blooming Passiflora might spawn ( as far as I saw, it often spawns on the entrance to Bakestone Cavern and near the steam wall. Harvesting it grants you 1 - 2 Passion Flowers worth ~24s each ) so watch your surroundings. There's going to be a lot of Cypress Saplings, Mithril Ores, and sometimes Ancient Sapling and Orichalcum Ore. Gather them, to sell or as materials to craft. Your choice.Ok, so how you do it now. NOT SOLO. Karkas are really tough to kill, 80% of the time they evade all your attacks, hit hard like a hammer, and due to their "Armor" ( each time they lose 25% of hp, for 3 seconds they will become invulnerable and change their look slightly. After 4th time, their hp goes back to 50%, but that means, you can finally kill them. Each time they lose a layer of armor, they will cure from conditions and grant themselves some boons. Also each time she rolls trough some players, she's losing conditions and getting might ), it takes some time if you try them 1v1, so for this farm, collect a group of at least 4-5 people (don't be scared, it takes like, 2 seconds to gather hunters. It is quite popular farm anyway ), the more, the better.Below, I've made a small map with path you will have to follow. Start from Owain's Refuge Waypoint ( it never gets contested, that's why ). Move towards micro camp at Scoured Plains, then turn towards Seashell Hills ( don't bother with Bakestone Cavern, 1 - 2 Veteran Karkas might spawn, or might not spawn at all, so, you will just waste your time climbing up or looking around the bottom part ). After that, make your way towards the Driftglass Springs, and at the end, move towards the Scoured Plains to repeat the path.https://ift.tt/3exEluI all you care about is to kill every Veteran Karka you see on your way, because only they ALWAYS drop 1 - 2 Karka Shells + ocassionally one of mentioned at the beginning things. There are some Young Karkas as well, but don't care about them. Chances they will drop a shell or Vial of Blood are quite small, much often they won't drop anything. Kill them ONLY if they're near Veteran Karka. At Driftglass Springs you will see a few Reef Riders. Ignore them, don't waste time on them unless they attack and block you from using mount. Chances they drop vial of blood are even worse, than for Young Karka...For higher chances to get Vial of Powerfull Blood, I recommend using Peppermint Omnomberry Bars ( Tray of Omnomberry Bars if you care to share ) and Flask of Pumpkin Oil ( eventually, Lump of Crystallized Nougat for short buff to dmg, or Sharpening Skull if you can't decide ).To move trough the map, I recommend using Jackal. Fast enough to let Karkas respawn. No need to move super fast, but if you don't have one yet, any kind of mount will work. If you're player without any expansion packs, then all you can do is to equip yourself with a lot of swiftness/superspeed.In group of people, Karkas will go down quite easilly, but I should mention, that I've noticed conditions, boon corruption and boon steal being very effective against them. If you manage to put condi on Veteran Karka, she will recieve damage even when losing one layer of her armor ( when that happens, she's evading all attacks, but can't evade condi dmg apparently ). Their attacks are quite simple, just spitting at you, throwing some poison aoe around, spitting out her eggs that will spawn a lot of her babies, and 3 attacks you better evade. First, if you see her legs twist aside, that means she's gonna roll forward. Evade, because if she rolls through you, you're getting knocked down for around 5 seconds. Second one, you will notice a orange circle appearing under you. She's going to jump and knock you down for around 2 seconds. 3rd one hard to predict, is when she starts rising one of her legs, then stomping it about the ground, sending knocking down shockwave. Worse, she repeats it 4 times. As easy mode, grant yourself stability for these attacks, and you will be fine. They can't be knocked down, pulled, pushed, etc. There's some very tiny, rare chances, that Veteran Karka will get dazed after getting down to 25%.Bla bla bla... WHAT ABOUT PROFIT ?! Ok ok chill, I was getting to it... So, after one hour of farming, you will have 70-80 Karka Shells, 2-3 Vials of Powerfull Blood, and some other loot. So, if you sell Karka Shells for 7s 10c, you get ~5g - 6g, and with all the other loot, you can get around ~3g so, we could say that Karka Shell Farm grants ~8g - 9g/h.( Read if you have Living World Season 3 )You can get even higher profit from the Powerfull Blood you gater, if you have unlocked Lake Doric. You just have to do a bit of Centaur Leather Farm, to get enough Hardened Leather Section ( 30 ) for Berserker Intricate Gossamer Insignia. You probably will have to buy 5 ecto, and maybe even gossamer scraps, but still, profit will be worth it. It is at least for me.My other recommendation, would be avoiding doing Karka Shell Farm when there's 1h before the Karka Queen. Crowd is you enemy at that time. People coming for the Queen, will often start killing Karkas ahead of you, lowering your final profit. Also, group of 50+ players will finish Karkas fast enough to not let some slower players recieve the loot. So, if the Karka Queen event just ended, or there's max 2h of waiting for her, it's good for you to start the chill farm.I hope, that this hella long post will help some new or maybe even old players understand what this method of farm is all about. If I will learn something else, or if something on Southsun Cove changes, I will make sure to put it here. via /r/Guildwars2 https://ift.tt/2xy2qRs
