Developing a niche in accounting? Career advice for a clueless accountant?

I’m still a young buck and don’t know a whole lot. Currently in public accounting at a local firm. The trend I’m noticing seems to be that if you really want to grow and succeed in accounting, you need to develop a niche. How does one do that? Does it sort of just, happen? Or do you choose something you may be interested in and start learning everything you can about that subject? At my current job, I do audit and tax, so I’m more like a general practitioner. Is that a recipe for success, or will I end up being an unhirable “jack of all trades, master of none” situation? Thanks in advance for any insight and advice. via /r/Accounting https://ift.tt/2pTvuvH
