I almost burned the house down, how do I get rid of the smell?

I messed up a recipe and let some unattended food burn on a stove for a few hours. I am a complete idiot here for multiple reasons. Nothing burned except the food, but it smoked for long enough that an entire two story house smells like an ash tray 12 hours later.We’re having friends over this weekend and my wife is deservedly pissed.
