Top Ten Must-Have Mods: What Are Yours?

I am what you would consider a user of many mods. SMAPI says I launch the game with over 350 mods, though half of them are content packs.I figured I would list my top ten mods, why I chose them and place some honorable mentions.First and foremost I will list the dependency mods. These do not really need a "why" as they are needed for other mods to work and, as such, will not take a spot on my top ten list.~~~~~~~~~~~~Dependency Mods:SMAPIJson AssetsContent PatcherContent Patcher AnimationsCustom MusicFarmType managerPyTK - Platonymous ToolkitSpaceCoreTMXL Map ToolkitMail Framework ModStardewHackProducer Framework ModShop tile Framework~~~~~~~~~~My Top Ten List:Stardew Valley Expanded ~ This mod is an ambitious overhaul of Stardew Valley. Old characters have new events, new characters are nearly indistinguishable from original ones, the town and forest have been redesigned to accommodate the new villagers, as have festivals and other events so that no one is missing or out of place. If you just want "more" Stardew Valley, this mod is an excellent example of world-expansion.Prismatic Tools ~ This mod does exactly what the name implies. It allows you to create tools and sprinklers that out perform their Iridium predecessors using Prismatic Bars that are made from Prismatic Shards. The Prismatic Sprinklers, in particular, cover a 7x7 area, compared to the 5x5 area of Iridium Sprinklers and make the mod worth a look for that alone.Automate ~ Do you tire of babysitting machines, tappers, etc? Would you like to queue up a production line and walk away? With this mod, you can. Place a chest next to any machine and that machine will automatically pull items (such as coal and ore) from it to create a new items (such as bars in this example) without you ever having to do it yourself. Especially useful for Crab Pots that have been daisy-chained so that you no longer have to manually harvest from each one individually.PPJA's suite of new crops and recipes - Giant Crops, Ancient Crops, Farmer To Florist, Mizu's Flowers, Cannabis Kit, More Trees, Fruits And Veggies, More Recipes, Even More Recipes, Starbrew Valley, Artisan Valley ~ I know this is more than one mod but, honestly, if you're going to use one, you may as wells use all of them. These mods add new crops, trees, flowers, recipes and more so that you have a wider choice of what your farm will be designed for.UI Info Suite ~ This mod is like an in-game Wikipedia. Hover over an NPC and press a key and it will show you their likes and dislikes. Hover over crops to see what it is and how long until it's ready to be harvested. If you want information at your fingertips, this mod is for you.Bigger Backpack ~ Do you wish you could carry more items? Do you want a way to do so without feeling like you're cheating in the process? This mod adds a fourth backpack upgrade in Pierre's Shop for 50,000G allowing you to carry an additional twelve items.Part Of The Community ~ For some of us, interacting with NPCs is tedious. For others, we just don't have time. And, for others, it feels like every NPC is anti-social since they don't talk to anyone else about you. Enter PotC. PotC expands the NPC relationship system by making more actions affect an NPC's affection towards you. Did you give Abigail a birthday gift? She'll tell her parents and you'll increase relations with them as well. Going to a festival increases relations with everyone there. Talking to others within earshot of another NPC will also increase that NPC's affection a small amount. Now you feel like a part of the community.More New Fish ~ If you're like me, you love to fish. Sadly, the assortment of fish is pretty low. Not anymore with this mod. More than ninety new fish are obtainable from all bodies of water, from clownfish to koi to sauger to arrowana. Fishermen rejoice!MissCoriel's suite of music packs - Combined Music Pack, Supplement Pack 1, SP2 - Songs of the Sand, SP3 - Community Center, SP4 - Artisians And Ranchers, SP5 - Skull Cavern, Sounds of Rain, Cave Explorer, Nocturnal Ambiance ~ Like the PPJA mods above, I feel that if you use one, you may as wells use them all. MissCoriel has put together a wonderful collection of music packs covering all areas of Stardew Valley. Many of the tunes come from past games such as Ocarina of Time's "Gerudu Valley" that can play in the desert to Megaman's "Doctor Wiley's Castle" in the mines. For those who want a bit of nostalgia in their game, these packs are a great way to go.Hay Bales As Silos ~ Are you disappointed with how little hay a silo holds or that silos takes up so much valuable real estate? then try this mod out. The hay bale decoration you can purchase from Marnie now acts as another silo, giving an otherwise aesthetic addition to your farm a new lease on life.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Honorable Mentions For Lesser Known ModsSFG's Crab Monster Recolors ~ Do you hate playing hide and seek when it comes to crabs in the mines? Have you been killed by an enemy you thought was a rock? This mod allows you to choose three variations for all three types of rock crabs, from very subtle changes to highly visible.Harp of Yoba ~ This mod gives you a new tool called the Harp of Yoba. As you progress through the game, you will receive new songs that you can play for various benefits such as a speed increase or watering your crops. Limitations placed on how often they can be played keeps this item from feeling like a cheat.Mineral Mage ~ Do you hate mining? Do you want another way to acquire ores, geodes or stone besides breaking your back swinging a pick and a sword? Do you want your mining to be more profitable? This mod may be for you. Several new machines are added that allow you create mineable items from otherwise common items. Throw some fish into one of them and receive stone, throw some slime and some gems into a polisher and increase their quality for a higher payout.Seasonal Villager Outfits ~ Seems odd that villagers wear the same clothes day in and day out, no matter the season. With this mod, NPCs now have more variation per season as well as clothes that fit the season you're in.A Less Yellow Stardew ~ There are several mods that do what this mod does, making the colors of Stardew Valley more natural and toned down. Dirt looks like dirt, rather than sand and grass is not as bright as a green light on a traffic light.Walk Through Trellis ~ Did you ever scratch your head as to why someone would plant their trellis plants so tightly packed that you could walk amongst them? this od allows you to walk through trellis crops as if they were normal crops.Sleep Worker ~ Machines don't pull from chests while using automate when you sleep. This mod simulates time passage when you opt to sleep early in the day so that machines will continue to pull from their chests. It takes longer to fall asleep as you watch time tick by about twenty minutes per two seconds.Birthday Reminder Mail ~ Do you have trouble remembering birthdays? Fret no more. On an NPC's birthday, you will receive a letter in your mailbox reminding you of the birthday as well as suggesting gifts they may like.I hope this list has introduced you to a mod you may not have known you needed. And, please, feel free to add your own list of must-have-mods. via /r/StardewValley https://ift.tt/3cxUXAo
