BIG BEER DAY!

Today was the first time I did bottling and brew a beer by my lonesome. My pale ale (Simoe and Cascade) I bottled came out great. 4.8% abv/ 86 ibu. Tastes great, super bitter which is right up my alley, with nice citrus back notes.I also brewed a coffee stout (extract) today which is why I'm creating this post.So my brother started his own roastery, if that's what you call it for coffee. He said that this certain blend he had would be great in a stout, so I'm trying it out. I put 1 oz. of slightly crushed coffee with the grains steeping and I will use about 4.5 oz of the crushed coffee in the secondary here in about a week. My target OG was 1.062 but I ended up with 1.075. Not really complaining but just wondering what happened? Haven't ever overshot an extract recipe before.SIDE NOTE: this is my first time brewing with lactose, not sure if it contributes any way, and grains were only steeped for about 25-30 minutes via /r/Homebrewing https://ift.tt/3bGjF25
