Trying to build new PC for $1000-1500.

The other day my computer died which was a huge bummer. I don't know if it's the motherboard or the cpu, but I know it's not the monitor since I swapped that out to test that. When I try to turn it on the power light will go on and the fans will run, but nothing happens and my monitors read no signal. The computer is like 4-5 years old and I was expecting to replace it soon, but I am super bummed that it died so suddenly and so absolutely.Currently, I am using a laptop which I salvaged a few years ago from laptop corpses.Which... I feel like makes me sound like I know what I am talking about. I assure you, I am dumb as nails when it comes to computers. Sometimes I just manage to follow simple instructions without starting a fire is all.Anyway, the laptop overheats to nearly 100C as soon as I start any games, which is what I use my PC for mainly, so it's only a temporary solution. I can use it in a pinch for the important stuff, but as a matter of quality of life, aka my own personal time, I am super bummed.Tomorrow (public holiday here in VIC) I will be going out to buy a Caddy (sp?) to try to save the data from my internal hard drive on my old computer. That's kind of my only emergency.Otherwise, I would really like to buy the best possible gaming computer I can afford. I am also just going to pay the tech guy to put it together for me since I nearly fucked it up last time.I understand that I need a motherboard, a cpu, memory sticks, a graphics card, a hard drive, and a power supply. I also would like to go for water cooling this time (since overheating has always been a problem and I am sick as fuck of cleaning out dust). I never really use CD roms anymore but I still want a CD drive just in case. And I want a really big ass tower this time. I made the mistake of getting a tiny one last time which I thought would be better because it's compact, but I really regretted it because it was so hard to maneuver all the wires in when installing the hardware and when cleaning it.Anything I am missing? Any advice for me based on my desires and rough $ range? Anything I can learn to help me keep my computer alive and running smoothly for as long as possible?I feel like my computers always die after 3-5 years. Part of that is obviously the strain I put on them with gaming, but I am sure learning about overheating and preventing overheating increased the computer's life by at least a year or 2. I don't know if there are any other glaringly massive gaps in my knowledge that are preventing me from elongating the life of my computers.I going to peruse the TECS website and try to put together a recipe for my next computer. I am fairly sure my list above of required parts is complete or at least nearly complete but if I forgot an item please do share. I'm also not really sure if TECS is the best place to go, but that's where I got my last PC mainly due to the convenience of where I lived at the time.Anyway, if anyone can make sense of what I am saying and has any answers to any of my questions/confusions then thanks in advance. via /r/buildapc https://ift.tt/2OoAn9h
