Water Purifiers without water at Camp

While I've not yet found a recipe for one of these beautiful devices, I started looking a bit more into them because I finally have corn and therefore the other materials needed for Vegtable Starch...except a constant source of supply for Purified water. When I attempted to place them, there was mention that they had to be placed over a source of water, something not a single one of the places I've put my camp has had. My question then is...is there a water purifier that doesn't need to be placed in a source of water (such as the small one that sits on a concrete base), or do I need to consider moving my cliffside camp via /r/fo76 https://ift.tt/2qMetU4
