I feel like no one has played this game and so this may be a dead topic but you miss all the shots you don’t take.In an effort to reduce the backlog during what losers are calling a “Switch Drought” I’ve assigned myself games to complete weekly based on how long they take to beat. This week it’s Penny Punching Princess. The game is a much maligned NIS “brawler” with RPG elements and a capitalist mechanic wherein you can bribe all monsters and traps. It’s a gimmick but a welcome one, because tweaks to the button mashing brawler recipe are necessary. I read only hate for this game as a middling, average title but when I saw it on sale for around $10 or less I decided to try for myself. What I’ve discovered is an addictive, oftentimes infuriating gameplay loop that has surpassed its promises 13-15 hours and crossed into 20+ not least because I keep getting slaughtered in certain areas. The story and voice acting are whatever and exist purely in service of the bribing mechanic which comes in handy when the hordes of monsters start to swarm. Here the biggest issue presents itself: the controls. Each monster has a break point at which you can basically shake them down for cash by a) turning the right control stick furiously or b) tapping the monster furiously as coins erupt. So far Ive been playing docked and so prefer the former, but as I transition into touch controls I find I can’t possibly get the most coin out of enemies. Ultimately, both methods are kinda booty since they require wholesale displacement of one hand to execute.Anyway I’m on world 5 of 6 and despite repeated frustration I can’t help but find myself helplessly addicted to the game, playing levels with both characters for high coin score and extra loot to upgrade attacks, armor and raise skill points.Have any of you taken a chance on this game? did you love it did you hate it what would you rate it? via /r/NintendoSwitch https://ift.tt/2SBx4Rn
